Join the Experiment: Today I will focus only on the positive.

Please read the previous post about my affirmation: I am happy, optimistic, and upbeat. People enjoy being around me.

On Wednesday mornings I meet a neighbor friend of mine at a local café for breakfast. I have noticed that lately we seem to talk about how bad business is, how bad the local economy is, the sad state of politics, and other negative things. I have left our meetings feeling depressed.

I now realize what’s been happening. These encounters were leaving me depressed because they were pulling me away from my goal of being a happy, optimistic, upbeat person.

Since I have been focusing on this goal I notice that I no longer want to read the newspaper or listen to the cable T.V. news shows that I used to enjoy. The newspaper is full of negative news. The cable news shows bombard my mind with bad news. The talk shows are full of people arguing and fighting.

THE EXPERIMENT: I challenge myself and you to only be happy, optimistic, and upbeat today.

Here are some ways I will do that today:

  • I will not read the newspaper today

  • I will not turn on the T.V. today (unless it is a happy, upbeat program)

  • When I meet others today I will announce me experiment to focus only on that which is happy, optimistic, and upbeat. I will ask them to join me.

  • The conversations I join in today must be in alignment with this experiment

  • If I find myself around others who are not in alignment with this goal, I will politely excuse myself.

  • I will write my affirmation on a 3X5 card and carry it with me today and look at it often. (I just stopped writing this post and created my 3X5 card.)

If you are willing to join me, please leave a comment to that effect.

--To your success!
